In fact, it is already clear that he wants to make a deal with the Ukrainians, which may have far-reaching geopolitical and economic consequences. The essence of this deal, laid out recently, is that President Donald Trump aims to secure access for the United States to Ukraine’s rare earth minerals in exchange for sustained military and economic aid. That same day, Trump officially appointed retired General Keith Kellogg as a special envoy for Ukraine and Russia, with multiple sources reporting Kellogg is expected to arrive in Kyiv shortly after February 11th. Also on February 3rd, Ukrainian Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi outlined Ukraine’s key priorities in the ongoing war, which we at RRWR see as a strategic message directed at the American side ahead of this high-profile visit.
