Wes, I am not Ukrainian, the wife is, and I have lived here for a decade, so I know from direct experience, what Czar Putler's aims and goals are, and as someone who's been an IDP, since we had to leave our Donbas flat a year and a half ago I think you for your support. I think many countries have ended up in the same situation as far as deindustrialization is concerned. The reality is China plays the long game and now has many countries throughout the world dependent on China. In Australia we use to have a fantastic manufacturing industry it’s now become just about non existent, the amount of good farmland and dairies that have been sold to China is very sad for our farmers. The food and milk produced on these farms no longer go to the Australian market it all now goes directly to China. The amount of foreign ownership in this country is incredible, we have literally thousands of empty homes and units that’s just in NSW that are owned by people who live overseas and they do not rent them out, they have them purely as an investment. This pushes up the housing affordability because there is low stock of homes to rent, or buy because the foreign investors always have more money to pay pushing up the cost and the result young people, can no longer get into the housing market. It’s even ridiculously unaffordable to even build now. So the result is where people can they move in with family, adult children having to move back in with their parents and others who don’t have that option end up literally homeless. The result we have a huge homeless issue happening here in Australia which we have never seen in this country before, we use to be called the lucky country, we aren’t any longer. Since this current government got into power they have made it their priority to really cosy up to China. I can honestly say I no longer have any faith in our government or many others throughout the world. A few years ago in Australia a major port in Darwin was leased for 99 years to a Chinese company, who happens to be associated with the Chinese government. I remember at the time the American President had contacted our Liberal Prime minister from memory and rightly so America was concerned, when the Australian public found out so were they. The lease was made between the premier of the NT and the Chinese company, and the federal government signed off on it....bloody idiots! Its been an issue that is raised from time to time in the media, and so this current labour government supposedly looked into this 99 year lease and only a few weeks ago make the announcement, that they found it not to be a security concern for Australia said there was no need to cancel the lease, a week later the prime minister of Australia had the first official visit to China in over 10 plus years and met with the President of China. Darwin happens to be a large contingent of where the Australian military are stationed how dumb is our government!! If the Russo-Ukraine war ends in some trade-off peace deal (hmmm, sounds more like a 'piece' deal??) with Ukraine surrendering land on Russia's terms, then, what's it all been for? It simply validates what Putler said way back in the beginning, as I have posted previously. If the West had, in the first place, provided Ukraine with the weapons it needed TO WIN, then the Evil Empire would have been put back in its box by now, and many, many Ukrainians who have made the supreme sacrifice would still be alive, many Ukrainian towns and villages would still be standing, those who sought refuge abroad could be returning and reconstruction could be forging ahead.
But no. The Whole Western response seems to have been something akin to an ad hoc 'Military Clearing Sale'...never quite enough, never on time, never not what was really needed, when it was needed and where it was needed.
