Being a "former" top diplomat, Wes Mitchell (like many others not needing further election) can easily point out the obvious. Sadly he is unlikely to impress politicians of our moribund "democracies" as they run around like headless chickens, each fighting for their own wants.
Russia is NOT a democracy, they fully understand the limitations of having to answer to an electorate, they have no need to follow internationally agreed rules and can implement their (often bad) decisions without fear of opposition.
If we don't pull our finger out soon it may well be too late.
Yes, it has been 2 years of bloody fighting needlessly costing many Ukrainian lives due to the dribbling of weapons from the West...we fall well short of the promised 1 million 155mm shells and we still slumber on. Putler has allies in North Korea, China and Iran who have no trouble cranking up military production rates, and we still slumber on in some state of complacency. How long before we see NK soldiers flooding into Ukraine to help swamp Ukrainian defenders? The time to act is NOW for there will be a gathering storm especially if we fail to ensure a resounding victory for Ukraine
